Zang throws down the gauntlet for Hackathon participants

DeveloperWeek is kicked off each year with the nation’s largest challenge-driven hackathon. As a featured Hackathon sponsor, Zang has decided to pose its own challenge to attendees participating in the event.

Zang Cloud is a robust, cloud-based development platform that enables developers to seamlessly integrate communications actions, such as voice and messaging, into any application via an API.

This year, Zang is challenging participants to build a notification services app that leverages the Internet of Things (IoT). Using data from IoT sensors as the trigger, participants must drive proactive communications and workflows leveraging the Zang Cloud API. Participants will also have to use typical IoT triggers to drive workflows and/or communications based on thresholds met. You’ll need to define your use case and trigger, simulate the passing of data from an actual IoT sensor, leveraging Zang Cloud for its communications enablement.

Developers can set themselves apart and gain bonus points for:

  • Incorporating voice as well as SMS into the escalation or communications workflow
  • Integrate with 3
  • Integrate your app with another 3
  • Leverage additional Zang Cloud services (e.g., when your flow escalates to a phone call, spoof the number displayed)

What’s in it for participants?

For starters, Zang is offering a cash reward for the top three finalists in their Hackathon challenge. The first place team will take home $5,000, with second- and third-place teams getting $2,000 and $500 respectively.

Winners will be able to use these cash rewards to help pivot towards their next organizational goals—or supply developers with all the energy drinks they’ll need to crush their next big project. But the real reward is in the networking opportunities you’ll gain by accepting the Zang Challenge. By stepping up and taking on this challenge, you’ll be able to put your skills on display in front of some of the biggest players in the industry today, enabling you to propel your business to new heights.
